At our next stopover outside of Malindi, we stayed at a delightful eco-camp, where we slept in straw huts, dined on delicious coconut rice on a platform restaurant overlooking palm trees, and hung out with the camp donkey, “Coco.”  While in Malindi, we toured Gede ruins, a 13th century Swahili palace and surrounding community.  Once a thriving metropolis, it was mysteriously abandoned in the early 17th century.
